"The Hof van Liere is a 16th-century city palace with courtyards, gardens, and galleries. Mayor Arnold van Liere commissioned the enormous palace to be built between 1515 and 1520 in the Brabantine Gothic style. After the owner's death, the city of Antwerp housed the 'English Nation' here, but they left after the Spanish Fury in 1576. Since 1607, when the Jesuits established a boarding school here, the buildings have been used for education. Today, it is part of the University of Antwerp's city campus."
