What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Coupure Canal & Houseboats for offering a unique, enjoyable, and value-for-money experience, providing a peaceful alternative to crowded tourist boats. However, some have encountered issues with check-in delays and inconsistent customer service, which can detract from an otherwise lovely outing.
"Celebrated my birthday with my family! It was great to be on the boat for two hours to get the chance of seeing the surroundings of Ghent. Amazing experience❤️"

"Amazing experience and really vfm!
We just had too wait a little too long to sign in and pick up the boat, but it was a Sunday afternoon, so kind of expected."
Nick Andreadis
"Overall, the management and customer service left much to be desired. When we arrived, there was a long line and only one person attending, which made the process slow. Additionally, the person in charge took two phone calls while checking us in, which delayed everything by about 10-15 minutes. Although this was frustrating, they reassured us by saying we would have the full 4.5 hours of rental starting from the moment we sat on the boat.
The boat ride itself was truly lovely, and we enjoyed it very much. However, upon returning, the person in charge—who had a very unpleasant attitude—accused us of going over the time limit. We explained that the morning staff had confirmed we had 4.5 hours, but he didn’t believe us and acted as though we were lying. After some back and forth, he agreed to charge us an extra 10€, which wasn’t a huge deal, but his tone and rudeness really left a bad impression.
Fortunately, after some time, the person apologized and explained that he had had a complicated day with a lot of people. We understood and accepted his apology, but still, the feeling of having to go through all of that after such a positive experience with the boat left us with a bad taste.
In the end, it seems that the lack of organization and customer service don’t match the quality of the experience they offer. While the activity itself was wonderful, these types of misunderstandings and attitudes shouldn’t be part of the experience."
