"Part of Opera Ballet of Flanders, this opera house still has its allure (a renovation will be great though). The cloakroom is free and mandatory and the foyer has a bar. There is also a nice restaurant.
Gent is definitely worth staying overnight if you come from dance/ballet. Vooruit is another theater in the same area with dance program."

"Watched Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde here. The house is elegantly old-fashioned, and the acoustic excellent, but the seat (in the second floor balcony) is less comfortable and the room for legs is narrow. The orchestra and title roles of the opera were wonderful, but the new staging by a French director was just nightmarish for my taste. I basically closed my eyes, only listening to the magical music and singing for most of the night."
