What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The National Museum and Art Gallery is a developing institution with a mix of cultural artifacts, art, and a notable vintage car collection. While some visitors found certain exhibits limited or temporary due to ongoing construction, others appreciated the heritage displays, the San people's art, and the well-maintained car section. The air-conditioned environment and helpful staff contribute positively to the visitor experience.
"Entry to the museum is free and it has a mix of items on display. There was a section devoted to the presidents, with their portraits and the cars used in formal motorcades. Then there was an art gallery and a section displaying the flora, fauna and tribal items, handicrafts and model huts. I’ve given the rating of 2 stars because the displays are poorly curated and explained. Additionally there are no personnel around to guide. It’s a shame since there is an undeniable richness of content that can be displayed more impactfully."

"This will soon be a very nice and instructive museum about the history of the brotherly people of Botswana. The building looks great and modern, while marrying well with the local surroundings.
Since it is not fully open yet, visitors will only have access to the collection of beautiful vintage presidential cars, and a few objects related to the first telecommunications in the country."

"The museum building seems to be very new and the museum is definitely still being developed. There were some displays about the country of Botswana but not much on its history. On the art gallery side, there were only 4 paintings in one of the rooms in the museum side. The usual exhibition area of arts was taken over by a Russian photo display of the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. Why does Botswana has such an exhibition really puzzled me. Overall, the museum was a disappointment."
