"Possui exposições, um belo casarão da cidade . Fornece informações turísticas e mapa gratuito da cidade. Construção totalmente colonial com uma energia histórica."
WESLEY GOMES

The Poet and the Inconfidência
During his time at this residence in Vila Rica (1782-1788), Gonzaga held the position of ouvidor, a judicial and administrative role. However, his involvement in the Inconfidência Mineira, a clandestine movement seeking independence from Portuguese rule, cast a shadow over his later life. While the house doesn't explicitly detail the conspiracy, its walls echo with the presence of a man who lived through a pivotal, albeit dangerous, period in Brazilian history.
Visitors can feel the historical weight of the place, imagining Gonzaga composing verses or contemplating the political climate of the time. The house serves as a tangible link to the intellectual and revolutionary spirit that characterized Ouro Preto during the 18th century, offering a unique perspective on Brazil's path to independence.

The sweeping panorama encompasses the baroque facade of the church, the charming colonial streets, and the rolling hills that surround the city. Beyond the famous balcony, the house also features a lovely garden, which adds to its tranquil ambiance.
