What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Charqueada Santa Rita offers a unique historical experience with charming accommodations and delicious, traditional food. However, guests frequently cite service issues, including understaffing and inconsistent restaurant hours, as a significant drawback. While the property has potential, some areas require maintenance and updates, particularly for families with young children.
"Beautiful place, good accommodations, service is the main issue preventing it to be great. There is a serious lack of personnel which affects the experience, e.g. the restaurant closes after breakfast and only reopens around noon, so lunch is always late (except for breakfast all meals are charged separately, food is delicious), theres a fireplace in the room and no matches to light it (when we asked for more the receptionist reminded us to bring it back to her after using it!), glasses in the room were dirty when we arrived. Common areas are nice and have interesting decor but all of them were dirty and smelled of mold. Staff is friendly but does need training, we were not offered a horse ride or to use the boats, which we knew was available, so we had to ask to book it, nor they showed us the property and where we could see the animals. The breakfast table was very good but there was never a person in sight to order anything else or to request refills. Playground needs a complete renovation, the doll house is adorable but falling apart and potentially dangerous with pieces of wood and nails sticking out. It could be a perfect place for kids with a few adjustments, for example, there is not a kid size helmet for horse rides (we were not even offered a helmet for our toddler so I requested the smallest they had which kept falling over his eyes during the ride), but they do make you sign a waiver to avoid any liability. There are bikes to use for free but none for kids, so families can’t really enjoy them."

"The staff is rude and can't speak English or spanish, so communication was very difficult. The receptionist always had a bad attitude. The restaurant food is a disappointment, everything is salty and the portions are ridiculously small."

"An experience of peaceful bliss despite the rainy days we were here.. I’ll leave the words out as this is a meditative paradise.
It’s an ongoing job to renovate this space so don’t expect perfection!
Thanks for hosting us Roddy, Suzette and Staff…"
