"There’s only one thing to say about this fort and that is it is definitely worth visiting for the views of Rio!
The hike itself is a steady, uphill climb, along a cobbled street. So if you are able, it is well worth making the climb up to the fort.
Entry was R$10 when I visited, which is more than reasonable. I would highly recommended making the effort to come here, if you can, as it is more than worth the entry fee a climb to the top!!"

"Great hike up. Nice monkeys on the route; but don’t feed them! Great views across Copacabana and the Sugar Loaf. Bathrooms are only available at the top. Oh, and it’s cash only."
Steve Cooper
"Very secure, as it's part of the military base. We went on a Tuesday and admission was free (January 2025). You'll hike up a cobbled service road - wear something comfortable. Great views of Copacabana beach and Sugarloaf Mountain up on top, and also monkeys!"
