Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise IMS Rio for its free admission, beautiful gardens, and engaging exhibitions. The modernist architecture and tranquil atmosphere are frequently highlighted as major draws. Some visitors noted that certain areas were closed during their visit, and exhibit rotation is a point of curiosity. Overall, it's considered a must-visit cultural gem in Rio de Janeiro.
"It’s free, so not sure how it couldn’t be 5 stars.
It Portuguese and has a cafe plus plenty of restrooms. I really enjoyed the photos, but that’s about all they had.
Some parts were closed and wasn’t too crowded (maybe because of the rain).
I would be curious if they rotate the exhibits. I think they do."

"A super lovely place. Feels like a summer house in the past. Contemporary exhibits. The garden is absolutely beautiful, very tropical."

"A must-see in Rio! The house itself is worth a visit. Surrounded by Atlantic forest, this modernist gem—designed by Olavo Redig de Campos and Roberto Burle Marx—was home to one of the most prominent Brazilian families both economically and culturally. I really enjoyed the well-curated exhibits: "Conflitos" (a photo exhibit covering political violence in Brazil in 1889-1964), "O pipoqueiro da esquina" (with cartoons by Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Ziraldo), and "#RioUtópico" (with photos of the many utopically-named Rio neighborhoods). Admission is free."
