What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Moderna Market for its incredible variety of fresh produce and its integration into a larger market complex, including the world's largest freshwater fish market. While some find the fish market's intense smells and busyness challenging, most appreciate the authentic local experience and the opportunity to find great deals.
"This is the nicest greens market I have seen in Manaus, you can find just about anything here and great deal to be had. Next to the greens market to the east you will find the banana/watermelon market and to the west you will find the biggest freshwater fish market in the world and a meat market it is really an amazing place, but I recommend to get there early as it get hot after 800am. Past the fish market you will find Adolpho Lisboa here you can find curios and even a small fish market and a few restaurants. Great way to spend the early morning. Across the way is the port of Manaus when you can find transports to different communities in the Amazon basin."

"Nice greens and fish market. Not the most suitable for foreigners because it is very busy. Here you will find the largest selection of different fresh amazonian fishes. The smell of fish and chlorine is quite intense in this market. The vegetable and fruit stalls do mainly have the common fruits and vegetables available. So this place will not be the spot to find strange exotic fruits, this is more a place where people from Manaus buy their fish and vegetables."
