Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Regional Archaeological Museum Plovdiv for its rich collection, particularly the significant Thracian artifacts, and its well-presented, informative exhibits. The affordable entry fee, air-conditioned halls, and helpful English translations are frequently highlighted as positives. Some visitors note that the museum is surprisingly uncrowded, which can be a benefit for a more intimate experience.

"A must if you're in Plovdiv for a few days. Some fantastic artifacts that were well labelled and laid out. Six lev entrance fee and took us around 90 mins to walk round."

Jon Bolton

"Wonderful museum with detailed descriptions of artifacts, including several very famous Thracian materials. Displays are well-lit and there are aids for seeing intricacies— mirrors for undersides of vessels, magnifying equipment for small details. Artifacts in the main exhibit are arranged chronologically, then thematically, then geographically. Finds are from the Neolithic/New Stone Age through the early medieval period, but the Thracian objects are definitely the highlight!

The entire museum is also air conditioned, which is great during the summer!"

Lauryn Hanley

"Fastinating place with historical artifacts that date back up to 7000 years ago. It really gives a sense of just how important Plovdiv is to Bulgaria and indeed the world.
It does take every long to tour the Museum but you should allow at least an hour. There is an entry fee of 10 Lev which is very little considering what you learn."
