Reviews Summary

The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre is praised for its vibrant festivals like Nikkei Matsuri, offering a rich cultural experience with diverse food, performances, and vendors. Visitors appreciate the beautiful gardens and the centre's role in preserving Japanese-Canadian heritage. However, some find festival admission and food prices to be high, and certain items may sell out quickly.

"The Nikkei Matsuri held every year at this cultural centre brings the Japanese community together, but it also welcomes anyone interested in participating. The activities here are planned in such a way that families with young children will have an area where they can play and win some prizes. However, all ages will find something attractive, as the program also includes music numbers (traditional and J-Pop), martial arts exhibitions, odori dances, and a long etc. Of course, one of the biggest draws is the possibility of trying different Japanese food options, sweet and savoury, or sipping sake from a variety of brewers, Or sipping a cold drink made with green tea in different combinations. Something for everyone!... Another highlight is the well-rounded selection of vendors offering jewelry, hand-made cards, kimono and other clothing items. The Nikkei Centre staff and volunteers do a very good job in terms of keeping this festival engaging, fun and interesting. On a warm summer day, this matsury is the place to be!"

"Excellent facilities! The school I work at has used the Nikkei for its graduation weekend ceremonies for many years. The hall is lovely and comfortable - the lobby is fabulous for hosting receptions with a large garden area perfect for photos. Momoko, their guest services manager delivers first class support. You won't be disappointed!"

"Just came back from their summer matsuri festival. Tons of food and drinks. Enjoyed takoyaki and tornado potato. No Okinawa soba today?"
