What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Meech Creek Valley, especially during the fall foliage season and for its misty morning vistas. The well-maintained trails, including the popular Discovery Trail, are a major draw for hikers and dog walkers. While some find the parking fees a bit high, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the serene atmosphere and photographic opportunities.
"Visited Meech Creek Valley via Discovery Trail (Trail 36) on 26th July 2025.
We parked at P11 (O’Brien Beach). Parking costs $2.75 CAD per hour (max $15), and there are restrooms and change rooms available since it’s next to the beach.
At the Trail 36 entry point from P11, the National Capital Commission had posted a warning about bears on that day, along with instructions on how to handle them. Actually, we spotted one bear about 150 meters away on the trail. It noticed us, but we calmly and quickly moved along the trail without issue.
From P11 we hiked to P16 (Meech Creek Valley), spent some time there, and walked back to P11. In total, we covered 17.24 km in 4 hours. The trail is easy and dog-friendly, and there were plenty of people walking around.
The Carbide Wilson Ruins are only 1.5 km from P11, making them a nice side trip.
We also saw a snake on the trail. Based on information about Gatineau Park, there are no venomous snakes here, so they are harmless—but it’s best to maintain distance and let them pass.
For cyclists, the P16 parking lot (Meech Creek Valley) is a good base for riding toward Lake Philippe, Lake Meech, and other nearby lakes.
If you want to experience the full beauty of Meech Creek Valley, visit during the fall color season (late September to mid-October). 🍁"

"This trail in the NCC Gatineau Park is easily accessible from Exit 21 on Hwy. 5. The parking lot is about 1km from the covered bridge and it makes a nice hike with some interesting interpretive plaques along the way (in English and French). It’s very picturesque. The hike towards the Gatineau trails is very nice with a lovely waterfall/stream beside the trail, leads to a number of lovely pathways including one to the Top of Meech Lake for a beautiful view and rest stop (with a small bench). The hike up is quite hilly and steep at spots, but the trail is wide and well marked. A real gem."

"Impeccable Cross Loop never disappoints! Any season, rain or shine. By vehicle or by foot, this is a local treasure. Nature photographers flock to this site for it's immense greenery, and it's gatineau hills quickly changing weather patterns. Each & every day- be it fog or snow, rain or shine, green, grey or red & orange, the expanse of the view is 2nd to none."
