It's praised as a clean, quiet, and less crowded spot perfect for relaxation and enjoying nature. Some wish for more amenities like picnic tables and washrooms.
"First ever visit to the Cobourg waterfront and shoreline. We went to see if we could find an interesting fossil or 2. We did find one really cool one.
Where we parked, in a small gravel lot, it's not super easy to get down to the shoreline, but to the west of it about 1o mins is a stairs that go down to the flat rocks and the stone beach. We went down a bit of an incline east of the small parking lot, down to the beach, and walked west to the flat rocks that go out into the water. Using the stairs to go up and walk back to our car.
The flat pitted rocks that the waves were rolling up onto were so gorgeous. My first impression coming upon them was that it was like a little slice of Tobermory and the shores of much of Lake Huron, but right on the shores of Lake Ontario and close to Toronto! It is just breathtaking.
Most of the shoreline walk from the east end until the flat rock area near the stairs is small to medium rocks, so can be a bit difficult to traverse for some people. There is some clean fill, similar to the shores near the Leslie Spit, but not near as much.
One fascinating thing about the walk along the shore is that there are a lot of interesting rocks.
The shoreline was pretty clean, not much garbage to speak of. People seem to care about it and want to keep it that way, there.
Lovely place to visit!"
