"“Beautiful and family-friendly!”
We had an amazing time at Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. The trail is perfect for families, with stunning views of two lakes and a chance to walk by the water. The lake view from above was breathtaking, and we even saw ducks along the way. A great hike for all ages—worth every step!"

"The view point from the Coquitlam lake look out is definitely in my top 5! Stopped at a water fall on the way down it's much nicer to look at then crystal falls!
The terrain is pretty easy going until you get to the new path to the view point. Gets almost vertical, would be nice if they had a rope there to aid with scrambling.
The trail we did was about 12km round trip parking at the gun range. Took just over 2 hours round Trip, with breaks and stopping at the view point Definitely recommend this to anyone! We also took our dog up there, great to get out."

"If you are a mountain biker or hiker and you love a challenge, this area is a hidden gem. (Wait, why am I saying this publicly?!)
Burke Mtn. has lots of old-school (mtb) rugged tech, steeps, wood features, jumps, gaps, and drops. There aren't really any green (beginner) trails, unless you count the gravel road climbing trails and maybe Woodland Walk (for mtb, that's more of a transit corridor from upper trails to the lower ones).
There are quite a few double-black trails, some of which are, frankly, a bit insane, lol.
If you do visit this place, PLEAAE drive slowly along Upper Harper Road (gravel) as your dust is awful for bikers climbing, plus, there are dogs off-leash. The Coquitlam gun club also uses that access road (sadly) and there is always a background NOISE of near constant gunfire. I think the bears are numb to it. There is plenty of wildlife: make sure you are bear-smart!!! Also, coyotes, foxes and cougars.
Make sure you have a trip plan; tell someone where you are going. Bring a phone, map, water, sealed snacks, emergency supplies & first aid - Coquitlam S.A.R. is awesome, but it does take time to locate hikers/bikers in trouble and the top-most trails are way up there!
There are NO washrooms or amenities of any kind."

Navigating the Trails
Mountain bikers will find a playground of old-school, rugged terrain. The park is known for its challenging trails featuring steep ascents and descents, technical sections, wooden features, jumps, and drops. It's important to note that there are very few beginner-friendly trails; most are geared towards intermediate to expert riders. Always be aware of other users on the trail and practice trail etiquette.
Wildlife Encounters and Safety
Safety is paramount here. Due to the remote nature of many trails and the lack of amenities, it's crucial to be well-prepared. Always inform someone of your trip plan, including your intended route and expected return time. Carry essential supplies such as ample water, sealed snacks, a comprehensive first-aid kit, and a reliable map. Cell service can be spotty or non-existent on many trails, so a physical map and compass are wise additions.
