What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers generally praise the Tsawwassen Ferry experience for its stunning coastal views, comfortable onboard amenities, and efficient service. "I took the BC Ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and had such a lovely experience! The staff were friendly and helpful, the boarding was smooth, and the views during the sailing were absolutely breathtaking — ocean, islands, and even a few seals along the way. The ferry was clean, comfortable, and had great food and coffee options onboard. It’s such a peaceful way to travel between the mainland and Vancouver Island. Highly recommend BC Ferries for anyone visiting or exploring BC! Queen of New Westminster and Spirit of British Columbia. Loved the Spirit of BC was very smooth."

"Good food, ferry services are great. Nice views from the causeway in morning and evenings if your early for your trip suggest having a look and explore the rock beaches on either side also. Lots of little critters to look at and the eagles are amazing!!"

"My recent round trip between Tsawwassen and Victoria was a good experience. I traveled on the Coastal Celebration for the outbound journey and the Spirit of British Columbia for the return. Both ferries were well-maintained, offering plenty of space and stunning views of the coast. There were also many comfortable seating areas, which were perfect for resting during the trip.
One thing to be aware of is the cost of food on board, with meals or lunches averaging between $25 and $30 per person. Vending machine prices were also higher than usual. On the positive side, the bathrooms were adequately clean, and the crew was very friendly and helpful. I was also impressed that both ferries stuck to their schedules and arrived on time.
I would strongly recommend booking your tickets in advance—at least three days to a week ahead—to secure a spot, whether you're traveling on foot or with a vehicle. This will help you avoid any last-minute issues."

Walk-on passengers have a bit more leeway, but arriving 20-25 minutes prior is still a good practice to ensure a relaxed boarding experience.
