Does Hamilton really want people from other cities to enjoy their trails and falls?

Seriously, why is it that Conservation Hamilton is charging so much to go for a hike? I was around "Crooks Hollow Conservation Area" and the only place i could park cost $15.50 ([photo](https://imgur.com/a/aBI6xw0)), exorbitant amount of money compared to any other conservation…

Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate Crooks Hollow Conservation Area for its quiet, peaceful atmosphere and easy trails, making it ideal for a relaxing stroll. The scenic beauty, including historic ruins and beaver dams, adds to its charm. However, some find the parking fees steep and note that trails can run close to residential areas, slightly diminishing the feeling of being fully immersed in nature. Limited amenities like restrooms are also a consideration.

"This trail is quiet and short that's great for a quick walk. The path is relatively easy and peaceful, making it ideal for those looking for a low-key stroll rather than a long hike. One thing to note is that parts of the trail run fairly close to a road, and at times you find yourself walking behind people’s backyards, which can take away from the feeling of being fully immersed in nature. That said, the area is still scenic and well-maintained.The parking lot is a decent size, and there are a few park benches near the start which is great if you want to bring a picnic and relax before or after your walk."

"A really beautiful trail! We wanted to go to Dundas peak but we didn't have a reservation so we settled for this one. But I'm so glad we did! Free parking space is available and it's not too crowded so it's a perfect place for a relaxing walk. The fall colors were lovely and there were quite a few beaver dams on the little creek running besides the trail. I would definitely recommend it!"

"Beautiful walk, very accessible. Be aware that you will be walking very close to people’s back yards and property lines, so be respectful."
