"Quiet, small historical site. There's a small amount of parking. When I went unfortunately the house was closed for renovations. However, as I went for a War of 1812 reenactment weekend, that wasn't particularly disappointing. But just bear in mind that if you're looking at my photos, don't expect any troops fighting battles if you go!"

"Restored and reconstructed buildings from early settlers in the Port Credit area. The grounds and gardens of the park are quite lovely. A trail leads south through the park towards the lake. The trail is suitable for any age walking traffic, but not fully accessible. A rugged stroller could travel readily, but a wheelchair or motorized scooter driver would struggle.
Some effort has been made to acknowledge the presence of First Nations peoples throughout this area long before colonial settlers arrived. On the path leading to the log cabin are stencilled paintings of moccasins in various styles. Interpretive signage along the path describes the designs and the First Nations they are associated with. There is a ceremonial sweat-lodge and a gathering area.
The park and museum are worth a deliberate visit, not just by happenstance after an accidental wrong turn I made to find it!
