Visitors praise Ammonite Falls for its beautiful, well-maintained trail through lush coastal forest, leading to a picturesque waterfall. The recent trail upgrades enhance accessibility, though some steep sections remain. While the falls' flow varies seasonally, the natural scenery and potential for fossil spotting make it a worthwhile hike near Nanaimo.

"The trail is well marked and well groomed. The trail is steep in some places but very manageable. Watch for slugs! There are lots on the trail and they are quite fun to find. It was a beautiful hike very close to the city. We got there around 9 am for the hike and spent quite a bit of time at the falls. By the time we were leaving the trail around 11am there was getting to be quite a bit more foot traffic! I suggest starting this trail in the morning for a more quiet hike."

Seanna Auger

"A walk through the woods to falls and fossils. It was the end of summer so the falls were nearly dry. I didn't see any fossils but there are supposed to be many there. A great afternoon out nonetheless."

Steve Mills

"Very peaceful and quiet walk through the forest. Lots of stairs to reach the falls, and it will take around 30 minutes to reach ammonite falls. The walk is definitely worth it and you get to see lot of birds as well."
