🍄 Fungi Hotspot

Fall is the best time to find stunning mushrooms of all sizes. 🍄

Red-legged frogs today at Morrell Nature Sanctuary, Nanaimo. I was volunteering today and at the end of the Gr.1 field trip we had the kids look in the ditch for frogs and we spotted at least 5 native Red-legged Frogs 🐸! Great way to end the day! The lighter coloured one is a younger one. I only had my phone to take video so I think I will go back soon and get a better video. . . . . . . #redlegg...

Visitors rave about Morrell Nature Sanctuary as a beautiful, quiet, and surreal hidden gem. It's praised for its well-maintained, clean trails suitable for all ages, offering a dose of nature therapy and opportunities to see local wildlife. Some note the potential for rocky terrain, recommending appropriate footwear.

"This hidden gem off the hwy is beautiful. So quite and surreal. It has bathrooms and maps everywhere. Small little hikes to longer ones. The small one on right (10mins) , the medium length one is on left with a bridge (20 mins going downhill) and the longest one is straight that will take you around the lake. I didn't have time for that one but I will be back. Very dog friendly. Best to wear close toes shoes cuz there is lots of rocks and roots from trees. Don't forget to pick up garbage. They trail is clean. Keep BC healthy 😉."
