"One of the best places to visit Tulips. You can see around 50+ shades of tulip colours. It takes around 3 to 4 hours to view all the Tulips.

The best season to visit this place will be May 2nd week where you can see all the Tulips. Beyond that tulips will start to wither.

You can also buy Tulip bouquet for $15. The park is amazing , has seats to sit and relax. No entrance fee for this place. You can also get food in mobile truck during the Tulip festival.

If you are lucky you will get a free parking near by. Else you have to use pay parking. It costs around 20$ for 4 hours."

"This park is THE place to see tulips in Ottawa. 🌷🌷🌷 With 300,000 bulbs planted - all sorts of colors - it makes for an amazing display.

My favourite was the not so common dark purple (black) tulips. You don't see them very often.

If you are short on time, you can definitely see everything you need to - in the park.

During the Tulp Festival, there are a locations where you can use portable toilets. And there are a number of food trucks on site where you can grab a quick bite.

Enjoy!

It's well worth a visit!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The History of the Canadian Tulip Festival

The Canadian Tulip Festival is not just a beautiful display of flowers; it's a celebration rooted in history and international friendship. During World War II, the Dutch Royal Family found refuge in Ottawa. Princess Margriet was even born in the city in 1943. To express gratitude, the Netherlands sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa in 1945, and an additional 20,000 bulbs annually thereafter. This tradition evolved into the grand Canadian Tulip Festival, which began in 1953. Commissioners Park at Dow's Lake became the primary venue due to its ideal location and size, allowing for the planting of hundreds of thousands of bulbs. TikTokInstagram

Today, the festival is one of the largest of its kind in the world, attracting visitors from far and wide. It honors the enduring bond between Canada and the Netherlands and showcases the vibrant beauty of spring. Beyond the stunning floral displays, the festival often includes educational programs, art installations, and cultural events, making it a multifaceted celebration of history, nature, and community.
