Train Noise Awareness

Oastler Lake Provincial Park is near a railway line. While many campers find the train sounds manageable, light sleepers should consider earplugs or sites further from the tracks. The park's proximity to the highway also means some ambient noise.

Campsite Privacy & Booking

Campsites vary in privacy. Some sites, like #151, offer generous space and waterfront access. Booking well in advance is recommended, especially for waterfront or more private wooded sites, as they are highly sought after. Reddit

Awenda, Bon Echo, or Oastler

Hey all! I’ll be going to Awenda, Bon Echo or Oastler in July (luckily there are some dates still available!). We’re having trouble deciding between the three and I would love some perspective from people that have been! We really like that all have canoeing/kayaking.

Reviews Summary

Oastler Lake Provincial Park is praised for its beautiful beaches, waterfront campsites, and convenient highway access. While many enjoy the lake activities and well-maintained grounds, some campers note the presence of train noise and occasional privacy issues at certain sites. Overall, it's considered a lovely park for a relaxing getaway. Reddit

"Beautiful park! I imagine it gets even more beautiful in the fall!

Our site was 151 — a beautiful site with two pads so you can park separate from where your tent or eating is. Waterfront access and incredibly clean!

Only reason it isn’t five stars because there are trains that run through semi often. It didn’t bother me too much and I didn’t wake up in the night, but was challenging getting to bed. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper!

This is also a very easy stop off the highway so if you are driving through on the TransCanada, this park adds virtually no time going out of the way. I have never heard of this park prior, but I’m so glad we have stopped as I’d love to go back now we know!"

"Had a wonderful week camping at Oastler Lake. The sound of the trains didn't really bother us. The fishing was not good, but we had fun kayaking and swimming. Our dog enjoyed swimming too.
We used the small 2 stall bathroom near our site. They were kept pretty clean, but often ran out of toilet paper.
Firewood sold on site was nice and dry.
My family really liked this park, we will return!"

Cyndy Day

"Sites are generous in size and spaced apart nicely. The land is beautiful with well kept grounds. The front staff are very friendly and helpful and the staff kept the washrooms and grounds very clean and well stocked daily. The beaches and water were stunning. The park was rented out yet we couldn’t tell at all it was busy. Very quiet and so specious the entire weekend was very peaceful."
