What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fifth Town Artisan Cheese offers a unique selection of handmade cheeses, with many visitors praising the quality and flavor, especially their blue and pecorino varieties. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the small tasting portions relative to the fee and the rushed service during peak times. Despite mixed reviews on the tasting experience, the shop is generally seen as a worthwhile stop for supporting local producers and enjoying artisanal products in Prince Edward County.
"I visited Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Co. because I had heard good things and wanted to try their fresh local cheese. The tasting fee was $5 per person, but it was quite different from what I expected based on some of the photos in the reviews. We only received a few very tiny samples — some of which were about the size of a child’s fingernail — and some of them were strong-tasting goat cheeses that might not suit everyone’s preference.
There were no fruits or sausages included as shown in some older photos, so the tasting didn’t feel very worthwhile for the price. The cheeses sold in the shop were fine, but not particularly special — some tasted quite similar to what you can find in regular grocery stores.
I came here hoping for something unique, maybe with the fresh, springy texture like Quebec’s “squeaky” cheese curds, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. Still, it’s a nice place to stop by if you’re already in the area and want to support local producers."

"The selection of artisinal cheeses were great, and we got to not only do a tasting of the cheeses but also get a peak into the cheese-making process. If you're on a vacation, definitely visit to get some nice cheeses with a local wine (there's a plethora of winyards in the area), pick a spot by the lake and chill! I really liked their blue cheese with rum and their pecorino sardo washed with red wine."

"Loved the cheese tasting! Can't go wrong for only $5. Ended up buying three delicious cheeses."
