Best cabane à sucre that focuses on how the syrup is made? Solo adult tourist
Bonjour! I know the sugar shack question gets asked a lot, but it seems like most people are looking for a family day out and that’s not really what I’m after. I’m most interested in seeing and learning about the traditional syrup making process, and looking for a cozy, more…

Best cabane a sucre locations?
Looking to do a proper cabane a sucre experience with some friends. Someone told me the best locations are generally off the island of montreal. Anyone have any recommendations?

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Sucrerie de la Montagne for its authentic sugar shack atmosphere, charming grounds, and engaging maple syrup tours. The live music and rustic setting create a lively and memorable experience, though some find the food portions small and the overall price high.
"Visited with my tour. It was a very pleasant experience which started with a short tractor ride to the cabins. The grounds beautiful, the atmosphere lively and the service terrific. We were warmly greeted by the owner and his family. It was educational and interesting, but I felt as if I was visiting friends. The live music kept me in good spirits. The maple syrup was delicious so I bought some to take home. The food served family style was just ok for me and the portions small for our large table, however we made due. The fact that we had a good time more than made up for it. I would recommend this as a place to visit."

"This establishment is set on a beautiful property with cabins for rent and a small general store. It is definitely a more complete sugar shack than none that just serves food. At almost $60, it isn’t cheap. The food was good but nothing super special. There were 2 standouts though. The tourtière (traditional meat pie) was outstanding as was the sugar pie. Service was also excellent. A good choice with certain caveats."

"Long waits. Sat with others. I tried to order a hot chocolate for my kid and was told that I need to go order it at the bar. Took 15 min to get it, in the meantime coffee and soup was finally served at our table, both cold by the time I was back. Bread was good. The eggs and mashed potatoes are uneatable. Pancakes are very standard. Sugar pie was good. Service was mediocre. Good atmosphere. Taffy served on chipped ice had mixed results. Way overpriced for the quality of the food. Not worth it."
