One of my fav places to go🫶🏻 **They do not take animals out of the wild for the purpose of displaying them! Most animals come into their care as orphans or severely injured. #fyp #novascotia #thingstodoinnovascotia #foryoupage

Mixed feelings about this place. It’s peaceful, the trails are lovely, and you’ll see so many animals and birds… But some enclosures feel far too small — it’s heartbreaking. According to the park’s official information, most animals here are injured, orphaned, or unable to survive in the wild, so they receive lifelong care in a safe environment. Is this bear grieving? That's what the people who work at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park believed this spring, after Bonnie Bear died. She and her brother, Clyde, were rescued together as cubs and her brother hasn't been the same since her passing. Many highlight the unique opportunity to see rescued wildlife and the engaging experience of guided night tours. Some wish for larger enclosures, but generally, the park is seen as a great family-friendly destination offering good value and a connection to local nature.

"An excellent place to observe a variety of extraordinary and fascinating wild creatures. While some animals prefer staying inside their shelters, many can be seen roaming outside. A few appear calm and relaxed, while others are impressively energetic and active. The zoo also features a pleasant picnic area, making it a great spot for families and nature enthusiasts alike."

"We took our family on a night tour of the wildlife park. It was such a cool experience to see animals at night and how differently they act at night. We met the tour guide at 8:00 and we finished the tour at 10:00. It was a lot of walking so be prepared for that. Our children are between 12 and 5 and did start to get tired. Seeing the wildlife park with a guide was a really great experience because we got to learn so much about the animals and how they came to be at the park. Totally recommend this for anyone looking for a unique experience with their family. The night tours aren't run all the time and do fill up quickly."

Lexie Burgess

"Overall a nice place. As with most, I wish there was more funds for larger habitat enclosures and better water features. I'm glad though that the animals are ones that can't go back to the wild and are taken care of. Staff we wonderful."
