Y’all better keep this a secret 🤫 ~ Everyone knows Sydney Airport security is painfully slow, but not if you follow me! Unfortunately Sydney’s Terminal Two is often crowded, and has no priority security screening to make frequent flyers feel special. But did you know that downstairs on the arrivals level is an “express lane”?! Next to baggage storage and carousel five there’s an additional sec...

Reviews Summary

The Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal is a functional gateway, praised for its efficient loading/unloading and scenic routes. However, some travelers note limited onboard amenities and occasional delays or older vessels. Booking in advance is strongly advised to ensure a smooth journey. InstagramReddit

"We showed up seventy minutes before our ship was set to be boarded and lucked out. The ship setting sail in ten minutes had openings and the lady at the terminal asked if we wanted to board. We said yes. There was a bit of confusion as I had prepaid for the boarding passes and the car and the system stated we had to pay an additional twenty-six to board. She tried to fix the fact that it wanted more money but was unable.
We figured out after we boarded that the eight in the morning ship was more costly than the nine am one I had pre-booked...hence the cost difference.
We were the last ones ones on the boat and in the lane of the ship, placing us furthest back. Despite that, when we arrived on the other side...we disembarked within ten minutes of landing. The terminal designs are very efficient at loading and unloading cars and passengers fast. I guess that's why they tell you to arrive early.
This ship was newer than the one we came to Vancouver Island on, so it was capable of faster speeds and the captain delivered. We arrived back right on time when the ship out was just shy of twenty minutes late.
Unfortunately Starbucks (the only real latte place on the boat) was completely locked up. There was no explanation.
Just as with the other ferry, you have your inflated pricing gift/ clothing shop and a fuel station food and "latte" from a push button contraption. We chose to wait until we were off the boat to imbibe real coffee.
One way we lucked out on the earlier boarding is this ship has a covered, exterior viewing deck on the fore and aft....so whichever end you want to enjoy the views on the sun deck, you're covered...literally. This means the cutting wind from the speed of the ferry is not an issue. There is sea spray all over the windows, so you won't capture any clear photographs through the cover, but you will stay much more comfortable."

"Definitely not the best ferry terminal. Not many amenities to wander around before the ferry departs. There are washrooms and a water bottle refill station as well as a cafe and some vending machines. I would definitely recommend reserving if you want to stand a chance of departing the same day.

The ferry departed late and it was a very small, old, not well maintained ferry. I felt a lot of motion sickness on the ferry. Next time, I would reserve a larger ferry to have a better experience."

Celina Dhesi

"We arrived an hour before departure and were first in line. It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy lunch out the back of the car and take a wander through the markets at Swartz Bay. As always, the ferry ride was lovely with interesting views throughout."
