Highlight reel from our recent kayak trip to Princess Margaret marine park on Portland Island! The smoke was just starting to roll in as we set out so we had a very hazy sunset, but beautiful nonetheless. As always, a 10/10 time with @emiliedesabrais

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty and serene atmosphere of Portland Island Princess Margaret Marine Park, often describing it as a hidden gem. The opportunity for solitude and the clear waters for kayaking are major highlights. However, some note that the hiking trails can be overgrown, and the park's remoteness means visitors must be entirely self-sufficient.

"We visited the island in August of 2022 by boat. We anchored with stern tie in Royal Cove. Anchor dropped in mud in the middle of the cove had good holding. We stern tied to a metal eye embedded in the rock - these are numerous but can be a bit hard to pick out at first. They have been spray painted red and/or yellow in the past - easy to see once you know what to look for. We saw swell coming into the cove from the frequent ferries passing by in the channel, but never enough to do more than gently rock the boat. Wind was from the south during our stay, so we were very protected - this could be different during a north blow. Beautiful cove, and decent hiking trails around the island that are somewhat overgrown in places."

"Absolutely gorgeous marine park. You need your own boat to get there, but there is a good chance that you will have the beach, if not the whole island to yourself. Views are hard to beat and there are some pleasant walking trails on the island. If you get lucky, the phosphoresence will put on a fabulous display for you."
