What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Ausable Cut Conservation Area for its unique man-made channel and natural beauty, offering a free and enjoyable experience for paddling and hiking. Some note the challenging terrain and potential for overgrown trails, as well as slow paddling conditions due to aquatic vegetation.
"I went here to access the river and paddle into the Pinery. You’ll have to carry your boat about 200m from the parking lot to the river. I guess the water levels were too low to put out the floating dock. It was just sitting there in the bushes. It is still easy enough to launch a canoe or kayak. The river itself was nice. Be warned that the channel leading into the Pinery is filled with Lilly pads and underwater vegetation making paddling slow. Luckily I brought my double blade because it made it a little easier to keep moving. A single blade would be much more difficult. Next time I’m going to explore the other direction."

"Sandy, hilly trail is a cool, free way to spend an hour or two. The best part is the remarkable man-made water channel. Lack of use means sections of the trail can become qickly overgrown. Neat spot for birds."
