Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning views and unique historical remnants at La Manche Provincial Park, particularly the impressive suspension bridge and abandoned village. The hike is considered rewarding, offering opportunities for wildlife spotting and a connection to the past. However, some note the trail can be slippery and wet, emphasizing the need for proper footwear and preparedness.

"Beautiful views with some rugged terrain on the way to the bridge. The hike itself is about 20 minutes from the lot; however, you could easily spend a couple of hours down around the bridge, falls, and ocean.

There was even some loons, puffins, and a sea otter lounging close to the shore! The trail itself you will want to be prepared for. Certain parts of the path (particularly at the start) are groomed and smoothed out; but, there are some steeper, jagged inclines that can be very slippery when wet.

There were a few people looking to see the bridge as we were heading back out, but they were very underprepared in terms of attire. Make sure to bring lots of water, good boots that won't cause a slip easily, some trail snacks, all housed in a decent bag. The trail was fairly wet and while there was plenty of cover at many spots, it felt damp and muggy. You'll feel a nice ocean breeze and some stunning views at the end though that makes it all worth while.

There was also some garbage on the path and surrounding area of the bridge - including glass. Please be careful when navigating and do your best to take any garbage with you back to your transport as there aren't many cans around to dispose items. Keeping the trail beautiful, clean, and pristine is what makes it such a draw in the first place.

For any bird watchers, there were plenty of birds to see and hear from the surrounding trees. Warblers, swallows, juncos, finches, blue jays, grey jays, and then some!"

"Going back this week. Nice hike to a swimming hole. Then, after the suspension bridge, a beautiful hike onto stairs and forested paths to little rocky beaches. There’s also a campground with nice swimming area for families."

Les S

"Easy flat stoney hike with some moderate ups n downs towards the end. We saw some seals under the bridge and it was the best thing ever!"
