Where to find snakes in the wild

My kid and I are looking for tips and locations to find snakes. We know they like tall grassy areas near water. We would be observing them and/or catching and releasing them. Are there specific locations where we are more likely to find them? Any tips on how to spot them?…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Swan Lake Christmas Hill for its serene beauty, abundant birdlife, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a delightful nature escape. While the main loop is largely accessible and stroller-friendly, a few rocky sections can pose challenges for wheelchairs. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance, so bug spray is a must.

"Beautiful loop! It is nearly accessible. I had no problem pushing a stroller with bike tires. There were two areas that required a bit of careful maneuvering however (see pictures). It's unfortunately not quite wheelchair friendly given the two rock steps in one area and then another area with a couple meters where the trail is steeper and rocky. Other than that it would have been totally accessible. So sad."

Marilee

"This is such a beautiful place! The lake is very peaceful with several new lattice cement bridges and pathways, and different types of birds. The nature center itself is a warm and educational facility with dedicated volunteers. There is no entrance fee."

Sheila Flood

"DO NOT go here without putting on mosquito repellent. They murder. But the views are beautiful and the varied terrain means that you'll see a lot of birds around the lake. And it's a short walk. 2.5 km. Enjoy."
