What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Victoria City Hall to be a functional civic building with helpful staff, particularly regarding parking issues. While the architecture is appreciated, the primary interactions often revolve around administrative tasks like paying property taxes or resolving parking meter discrepancies. Some visitors have noted frustrations with the parking machines themselves, emphasizing the importance of direct communication with City Hall staff.
"I had a good experience with the staff about a parking issue. But it seems Parking in general has a lot of issues.
I parked on the street and at 8am, I put in $5 CAD. It gave me time until 9:15am. I decided to add time since we were gonna check out from our hotel at a 11am.
I added $6 CAD more, but instead of actually adding the time on, it just overlapped the time. So I had one ticket covering up to 9:15am and another covering up to 9:30am.
Right away, I went to City Hall and asked about this issue. The lady there helped out (I wish I got her name). She said she made a note with my license plate, but if they did give me a ticket, just come back in and it will be taken cared of.
---------------
Sure enough, there was a ticket! LOL. I did go back (it is a couple minutes walk from my hotel and the van can be seen down the street). She said it was taken cared of and that was it.
Still can't believe the officer ticketed with a digital note from the parking office about my license plate.
The take home is, if there is any issue with parking meters, definitely go to have it noted."

"Easy to walk in and pay property taxes if you want to do in person instead of online, be sure to keep in mind your max debit daily limits, paying by credit card is not an option."
