What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Faro Punta Coliumo for its stunning natural beauty, perfect for photography and appreciating the coastal landscape. The hike to the Punta Tumbes Lighthouse and the intriguing abandoned Navy facility are highlights. However, access is often unofficial, and some express frustration with the lack of official trails and community access.
"The area offers a beautiful landscape perfect for photography and appreciating the area's natural beauty. Unfortunately, access is only possible through unauthorized means, as the Navy, with its complete lack of community spirit and utter disregard for the local natural heritage, fails to provide any trails for residents to visit the site, even just one day a week."

"Punta Tumbes Lighthouse, an easy but moderately intense hike at times, is a hike that doesn't have an incline. While it's not a hike with a steep path, you do have to walk along the coast and climb over large rocks, which can be difficult if you sprain your foot. The one-way hike along the coastline takes approximately 1:30 to 2 hours. After passing Playa Grande, you must climb a hill where the lighthouse is located. There's a small marked trail to climb, but it's quite loose. Visitors have left a rope for support in the more difficult areas. Upon reaching the lighthouse, you feel completely satisfied by the beautiful landscape; it's literally the tip of Talcahuano, and there's nothing but the sea around you. Following the lighthouse trail, you can reach an abandoned facility that I assume used to belong to the Chilean Navy. It's an ideal place for those who enjoy urban exploration and trekking."

"Beautiful hike. A green landscape. Few people do this loop, abandoned houses, and the last narrow, well-maintained trail before reaching the lighthouse."
