The free entry and the unique vegetarian dining options, especially the hot pot, are frequently highlighted as positive aspects. "The monastery hosts several temples and buildings with beautiful architecture. The main prayer hall called the Dharma-? Hall is most impressive with beautiful ceiling and wood panels on the walls. The grounds also host buildings used as tea houses and food places serving all vegetarian food. The food offerings includes a Vegetarian Hot-Pot. Yes, you heard that right. It was such a great find. Loved the whole complex."

"When I first arrived at Wenshu Monastery, I was a little surprised — it felt so quiet and peaceful. Turns out, I had entered through a side gate!
As I wandered deeper into the monastery, passing through small doors and hidden pathways, the place slowly revealed its true scale. One gate led to another, and each time I thought I'd seen it all, there was more to discover. Eventually, I found my way out through the main area, and that’s when I finally saw the grand, endless monastery walls stretching as far as the eye could see.
Curious as always, I later looked up some information and found out that Wenshu Monastery covers over 120,000 square meters! It includes the Sutra Library, the Bell Tower, the Heavenly Hall, the Gate of the Celestial Realm, and the majestic Five-Peak Pagoda.
The architecture reflects traditional Chinese art, with beautiful carved details woven throughout the temple grounds. This monastery has stood for more than a thousand years — originally built during the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), it was first known as Xinxiang Monastery. During the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), it was renovated and renamed Wenshu Monastery in honor of the Bodhisattva Manjushri, the deity of wisdom.
Today, Wenshu Monastery is not only a sacred place for prayer and worship, but also an important center for Buddhist education and a treasure trove of priceless art. Visiting here feels like stepping into a peaceful world rich with history, culture, and quiet beauty.
Pls: I went there on November 2024"
