What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking scenery and historical significance of the Great Wall at Juyongguan and Mutianyu. The option for a toboggan ride at Mutianyu is a major highlight for many, offering a fun and unique way to descend. However, some find the crowds at more popular sections overwhelming, and the cost of transport and activities can add up.
"This was my first time in China, and my very first time visiting the Great Wall of China. We chose Juyong Pass as this place was less crowded earlier in the day and the climb was not that difficult.
Some members in our group were elderly and they managed to climb here. What an amazing feat!
The views around here are magnificent (as seen in the pictures and videos). The only drawback was that this trip happened in the summer.
Had it been in spring or autumn, temperature would be much more pleasant and the climb can even be more pleasurable.
Clean toilets are available on site, small stores selling cold and refreshing drinks, and souvenirs too.
I will definitely come back here again one day, preferably in the autumn!"

"Great Wall is something that would give you goosebumps for many reasons. The architecture is mind boggling. It so giant that feels unreal! We took the Juyongguan pass which is widely known for its beautiful views of foliage. We visited during cherry blossom, so it was more beautiful. The good side is vehicles go up and you can get a good view even if you don’t want to climb. Some portions are steep but if you take breaks, it’s doable. There are souvenir shop and cafe near ticket booth. Some clean toilets are also near cafe."

"Brilliant scenic spot for both viewings and hiking sections of the great wall of china! Lots of parking space & low admission charges & free for over 70s with passport! We walked across the river to a beautiful reconstructed pavilion that has seats & fabulous tradition ceiling artwork! This is one of the closest Great Wall locations to Central Beijing
Recommended!"
