"Naiqiong Monastery, Google Maps location is wrong. Correct location: Naiqiong Monastery is located at the foot of Drepung Monastery. After the Drepung Monastery mountain gate ticket office, take the right road up the mountain and walk for about 10 minutes to arrive. Naiqiong Monastery and then go up for about 20 minutes to reach Drepung Monastery.
Naiqiong Monastery is believed to have been built or expanded during the reign of the Fifth Dalai Lama, Ganden Tsang, around the early Qing Dynasty. The temple is dedicated to the master Lian Huasheng and the guardian Baihar. Baihar was originally a Bon god who was conquered by Lian Huasheng.
In Naiqiong Monastery, there is a traditional Naiqiong guardian. The guardian is Baihar's representative wizard, who specializes in divine oracles for the Dalai Lama and has influence on political and religious decisions.
There are distinctive religious murals in Naiqiong Monastery. Unfortunately, I arrived too late and didn't go inside.
If you enter from the Drepung Monastery's mountain gate, the Drepung Monastery ticket is RMB 60 (2018). There is no ticket gate at the Naiqiong Monastery, and you can enter and exit freely."
