What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Xichong Beach is praised for its beautiful scenery and accessibility from Shenzhen, making it a popular day-trip destination. However, visitors have expressed frustration with strict swimming area limitations and mandatory sun umbrella rentals, leading some to feel it doesn't live up to the hype. The Shenzhen Observatory offers stunning coastal views.
"It has probably changed from before, but this beach is absolutely not worth the long drive from Shenzhen. Entrance fee Is 35 yuan but you can only swim on a 50x50 m area in the whole beach, due to "safety reasons" (we were swimming in 50 cm water and got told off by the lifeguards). We read somewhere that the restrictions are for surfing, but there was not a soul surfing on the beach in the whole afternoon.
You can't even use your own sun umbrella (otherwise, why would you rent one for 100 rmb a day?).
The beach looks nice but it's a total disappointment due to these illogical restrictions. Not worth the hype at all"

"It’s one of the most beautiful beach in China. Super accessible from Shenzhen, only 90 mins car drive! If you a big fan beach/surfing, don’t miss out on this place"
