What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Qu Yuan Ancestral Hall rich in history and cultural significance, particularly appreciating the stories of Qu Yuan's patriotism and sacrifice. The scenic Yangtze River views and proximity to the Three Gorges Dam are also highlighted as major draws. Some find the historical explanations a bit complex if not fully understood, and dining options directly at the site are limited.
"This temple is full of stories and myths which are about Quyuan legend.
But one solid plot is about his loyalty and sacrifice for his Chinese nation which I've seen more young people like him in China.
The more we know him, the more we enjoy traveling to this temple."

"One of the oldest temple built during 820 during the Tang dynasty. There is a bronze statue of Qu Yuan, the stele corridor, and the Qu Yuan memorial hall. Cultural relics excavated in Zigui as well as the story of Qu Yuan are exhibited and described on the two floors of the memorial hall. The stele corridor has an assembly of the famous poems in his handwriting.
Dragon Boat Festival occurs around May/June each year, it is usual for the dragon boat race to be held on the Yangtze River along the Qu Yuan Temple section."

"After cruising above the Three Gorges Dam, we had the opportunity to visit the Chuyuan Temple. Tourists must get off their vehicles and purchase entrance tickets, which were then driven by a small vehicle. The Chinese tour guide explained that Chuyuan was a patriotic man who sacrificed greatly for his country. He learned of an important secret that the emperor had misunderstood, but the emperor ignored. He then sacrificed his own life to confirm the truth. The emperor later learned the truth. Apologies if the details are unclear, as I heard the tour guide's explanation from him, who couldn't quite understand what he was saying.
This temple sits on the Yangtze River, offering a beautiful view of the Three Gorges Dam. Along the side are beautiful orange trees bearing fruit. In the parking lot, local vendors sell a variety of delicious dried and candied fruits."
