Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Playa Cabo Blanco for its stunning natural beauty and the rewarding, albeit strenuous, hike through the rainforest. The seclusion and wildlife potential are major draws, offering a true escape. However, the rocky beach is not ideal for swimming, and some find the presence of plastic debris disappointing.

"It’s a relatively strenuous 5K hike (10K round trip) to this beach, with an elevation gain of about 1,200 ft. The walk is through forests teeming with wildlife—but if you want to see animals, show up early! The park opens at 8 AM, and you should aim to be there right when it opens. No point in showing up early they only open the gates at 8am sharp. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

On the way in, we saw deer, monkeys, iguanas, vultures, pelicans, and many, many more. On the way out around noon, we saw almost nothing.

We did this hike with three kids—the youngest was five—and it was a great challenge for him.

The beach itself is beautiful but very rocky and not ideal for swimming. I’ve never seen so many hermit crabs in my life.

It’s very hot and humid, and though most of the walk is under a shaded canopy, you’ll definitely sweat—so bring plenty of water.

At the entrance to the nature reserve, you’ll need to pay a fee per person. You can also pay with a credit card."

"Only accessible by boat or through a beautiful hike. I‘m not sure if i should recommend it but i walked back barefoot and it was a wonderful experience to walk through such a wild place with direct contact to the earth. I recommend to take enough water with you and some food. The whole trip takes some time. But i recommend to start the hike as early as possible, you see more animals, the weather is cooler and you’ll have enough time to enjoy the beach and walk back in time."

Czuend

"The hike was strenuous and the return was challenging after a day at the beach. The water was beautiful but lined with boulders which made it tough to get in. Not much in the way of animal sightings (one iguana 🦎 on the beach). Go if you LOVE hiking and the beach. They don’t tell you that water and a shower are usually available there on the beach. There are also picnic tables for a lunch."
