Reviews Summary

Stina Winery Tasting Room in Bol is praised for its excellent wines, particularly the Rosé and Pošip, and its beautiful historic setting with charming harbor views. Visitors enjoy the romantic atmosphere and the option for beachside seating. However, some guests have found the wine tours and tastings to be disappointing, citing a lack of personalized attention and a disconnect between the tour and the tasting experience, especially on rainy days.

"The wine tour and tasting was very disappointing. We chose to do this on a rainy day in Bol, but I imagine a lot of the magic (and what justifies the higher price point), would be enjoying the tastings with beach views.

Instead, we were stood inside and did not get a seat. We purchased the most expensive tasting but the tour guides barely spoke to us - they seemed to stand round everyone else giving them more detail on the wine they're drinking etc, but acted like we weren't there. Not sure if it's cause we looked a bit younger, or cause we're a queer couple, or something else entirely - but it didn't feel good.

We were walking to the bar to grab multiple glasses of wine at a time and drink it without knowing what it was etc. We may as well have saved the money and just bought the wines ourself.
Our tasting was at 5pm so by 6pm there was another tour going round and we felt hurried out and ended up gulping down the wine.

The tour itself was maybe 20 mins, in about 3 rooms. Some of which were really thin so we ended up so far away from the guide that we couldn't hear a thing he was saying.

It would make far more sense to tie the tour in with the actual wines we'd be tasting - explain them as we go so we can really appreciate what we are trying, rather than just seeing the machines that make them. And I'd suggest adding a cap to the people on a tasting, so everyone can have a more worthwhile experience.

In a perfect world, rainy days would also mean a discount, so we aren't paying a 'by the beachfront' premium, when it can't be used.

We spent about €77 on two tastings - not worth it and the whole experience put a dampener on our experience of Bol."

"I raved about this winery that I discovered in Bol 14 years ago. I am again thoroughly enjoying the wines.
Igor, the waiter, who has served us over the last couple of nights is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines."

"Stina is a must-visit on Brać. Their Rosè and Pošip are especially good. The local cheese and Pršut with olives made the perfect snack to pair with a few glasses in front of the beautiful Bol harbor.

The winery is located in a nice historic building and is very beautiful inside.

Great wines, great service. I’d highly recommend a visit!"

For Different Travelers

Tailored advice for your travel style

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Kids

Stina Winery is primarily an adult-focused destination centered around wine tasting. While children might accompany parents, the experience is not specifically designed for them. The romantic ambiance and wine education might not hold a child's attention for long. If visiting with family, consider a shorter tasting or focus on the scenic harbor views, and ensure there are other kid-friendly activities planned for the day in Bol. Reddit

💰 Budget Travelers

A wine tasting at Stina Winery can be a splurge, with some packages costing around €77 for two people. To make it more budget-friendly, consider opting for a simpler tasting package or purchasing a few glasses of wine to share rather than a full tasting flight. Alternatively, enjoy the ambiance by purchasing a bottle and finding a spot to relax with the harbor views, though this might not include the guided tasting experience. Reddit

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Stina Wine Experience: Beyond the Glass

Stina Winery, nestled in the historic heart of Bol, offers more than just wine; it's an immersion into the local culture and landscape. The winery is renowned for its award-winning wines, particularly its Rosé and Pošip varietals, which are crafted from grapes grown on the island of Brač. Visitors often praise the knowledgeable staff, like Igor, who can share insights into the winemaking process and the stories behind each bottle. The winery's unique selling point is its proximity to the sea, claiming to be the closest winery to the ocean globally, which influences the terroir and the distinct character of its wines. Reddit

While the wine itself is a major draw, the ambiance of the tasting room significantly enhances the experience. Housed in a beautiful, historic building, it provides a romantic and sophisticated setting. Many guests opt for the outdoor seating, which offers stunning views of the Bol harbor or direct access to the beach, making for a truly picturesque wine-drinking session. This combination of excellent wine, a captivating setting, and a touch of local history makes Stina Winery a must-visit for many travelers. Reddit

However, it's worth noting that the tasting experience can vary. Some visitors have reported feeling that tours were not always well-integrated with the tasting itself, or that personalized attention was lacking, especially on busy days or in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Planning your visit during off-peak hours or opting for a pre-booked, premium tasting might ensure a more tailored and enjoyable experience. Reddit

Navigating Your Visit: Tips from Fellow Travelers

When planning your visit to Stina Winery, consider the time of day and potential weather. While the beachside views are a significant draw, a rainy day might mean your tasting is entirely indoors. Some visitors felt this diminished the value, especially given the price point, and suggested that rainy day discounts could be beneficial. Booking your tasting in advance is crucial, as spots can fill up quickly, particularly during the summer months. Reddit

For those looking to maximize their experience, engaging with the staff is key. Knowledgeable servers can provide deeper insights into the wines and their origins. While the winery offers light snacks like cheese and pršut, it's not a full-service restaurant, so plan your meals accordingly. The historic building itself is a point of interest, and many find the atmosphere to be quite romantic, making it a great spot for couples. Reddit

Be aware that the tour portion of some tasting experiences might be brief, and the information delivered might not always be directly tied to the wines being sampled. Some guests have suggested that a more integrated approach, where the tour explains the wines as they are tasted, would be more beneficial. Ultimately, managing expectations regarding the tour structure and focusing on the quality of the wines and the ambiance can lead to a more satisfying visit. Reddit
