Banje Beach morning swim
How early can we swim at Banje Beach to avoid crowds? I know the restaurant/lounge opens at 10am but we're thinking going there at 8/9am. Is just the beach open to the public by then already?
🍽️ Lunch vs. Dinner
Many recommend Banje for lunch and cocktails, but some found dinner quality disappointing.
👟 Pebble Beach Comfort
The beach has small pebbles, not sand. Water shoes might be a good idea for comfort.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Banje Beach offers a stunning location with iconic views of Dubrovnik's Old Town, complemented by clear Adriatic waters. Visitors praise the friendly staff and the convenience of the beach club's table service for drinks and lunch. However, some find the beach club's prices high and the dinner quality inconsistent.
"Loved Banje Beach! Cozy atmosphere , beautiful sea view over the islands and the picturesque old town which was also a short walking distance from the beach. Service was amazing, The staff in both the restaurant and on the beach is super friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers amazing food and refreshing drinks with table service by the sunbeds. Small pebble stones and a little plateau from where you can jump makes the beach a perfect place for all ages (we were there with 2 small kids). We enjoyed it several days in a row and can’t wait to come back🏖️☀️❤️"

"Lovely beach club with wonderful, friendly staff. Beds are so comfy and luxurious. Water is crystal clear and refreshing after laying in the sun. Ice cold drinks served straight to your bed. We are on a cruise and came here for the day whilst docked in Dubrovnik. Incredible views from water and calm, peaceful atmosphere. We would definitely recommend and would come back again! Thank you Banje beach club :)"

"We went there for lunch. It was really perfect and you can enjoy your cocktails and you can swim at the same time and also we came back the second day to enjoy the dinner, but really didn’t like it. The food was really bad. The octopus was burnt and the tuna was overcooked which wasn’t delicious at all so apparently it is not the same chef. The service was OK so I really recommend this place for lunchtime not dinner."

🚇 🗺️ Getting There
Banje Beach is conveniently located just outside the Ploče Gate of Dubrovnik's Old Town. It's a short, scenic walk (about 5-10 minutes) downhill from the gate, offering stunning views as you approach. You can easily find it by following the signs or simply heading towards the sea with the Old Town walls in sight.
Parking directly at Banje Beach is very limited. The best option is to park in the public garage near the Old Town (e.g., the Pile Gate garage) and then walk to the beach. This is a common strategy for visitors exploring Dubrovnik.
While walking is the most common and recommended way, local buses do stop near the Old Town, and from there, it's a short walk to the beach. However, given its proximity, walking is usually the most efficient method.
The walk from the Old Town is downhill, which is manageable. However, the beach itself is pebbly, and the beach club has steps. Access to the water might be challenging for those with significant mobility issues.
If you're arriving by cruise ship, you can take a taxi directly to the Ploče Gate entrance of the Old Town, which is a short walk from Banje Beach. Alternatively, you can take a local bus from the port area towards the Old Town.
