What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Stiniva Bay is overwhelmingly praised for its breathtaking beauty and unique natural entrance, often described as one of the most beautiful beaches. Visitors appreciate the clear waters and the charming beach bar. However, the challenging hike and potential for crowds during peak hours are frequently mentioned drawbacks.
"access to the beach is with car and then on foot or with boat. The path is gravel and strap. It is not for small children. I recommend good shoes, not flip flops. The beach is very beautiful, with cristal wather and the bar with drinks and food."

"By far the most beautiful, breathtaking beach i’ve ever seen! It can get fairly crowded between 10am and 4pm due to the constant boats and tours that come there. I went by foot and took the little path down. Please think twice about doing this and take the following into consideration: the path is very steep and slippery, sometimes you have to grab onto rocks and trees to stop yourself from falling down. On hot days (30+ degrees) you have to make sure to bring enough water for the way down and up again. Please wear good shoes!! Flip flops are not a good idea. Yes the hike is worth it but i would recommend going by boat."

"I have added photos for those who go by foot. the path is ok, quite steep in places but doable. you need about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. and you don't need to overdo it with water and things because there is a cafe downstairs with food and drinks (9am-9pm) and I took pictures of some pages for the prices. the amount of people changes fast because they come from the seaside and boats. it’s a nice beach and worth visiting"

The hike is described as steep and slippery in places, with some sections requiring you to grab onto rocks and trees. It's not recommended for very young children or those with mobility issues. Good shoes are essential.
While there's a road leading towards the area, Google Maps can sometimes direct you to a dead-end dirt road. It's best to navigate to 'Stiniva Beach' or 'Stiniva Walking Trail' for accurate directions to the access points.
Many visitors arrive by sailboat or organized boat tours. The water is deep and clear, allowing boats to anchor close to the bay. You can often swim directly from your boat to the beach.
Public transport directly to Stiniva Bay is limited. Taxis might be an option from Vis town, but boat tours are generally more common and convenient for reaching this secluded cove.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
There are no entrance fees to access Stiniva Bay itself. However, if you arrive by boat tour, you will pay for the tour. The beach bar also operates independently.
Stiniva Bay is a natural attraction and is accessible at all times. The beach bar, however, typically operates from 9 am to 9 pm.

📸 📸 Photography Tips
Early morning or late afternoon offers the best light for photography, avoiding harsh midday sun and the peak crowds. The golden hour light can make the cliffs and water look magical.
A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the dramatic cliffs and the entrance to the bay. A waterproof camera or phone case is useful if you plan on swimming or getting close to the water.
The entrance to the bay itself is the most iconic shot. From the beach, look up at the towering cliffs. If you hike up the right side, you can get a higher vantage point.
Visiting during off-peak hours (early morning or late afternoon) is your best bet. You can also try to frame your shots to focus on the natural beauty and minimize the presence of other visitors.
Try shooting from sea level to emphasize the scale of the cliffs. From higher ground (if accessible), you can capture the entire cove. Experiment with different perspectives to find what you like best.

The Journey to Stiniva: Hike vs. Boat
Alternatively, arriving by boat is a popular and often recommended choice. Numerous tours operate from Vis town, offering a more relaxed and scenic journey. This method bypasses the strenuous hike and allows you to appreciate the bay's dramatic entrance from the sea. Many boats can anchor close enough for a swim directly to the shore, making it a convenient option for most visitors.
Navigating Vis and Stiniva Bay
Once you are in the vicinity of Vis island, look for clear signage pointing towards Stiniva. The local road network can be winding, so paying attention to road signs is essential. If you opt for a boat tour, your captain will handle the navigation, bringing you directly to the stunning sea entrance of the bay.
Experiencing Stiniva Bay: Beach Life and Amenities
Adding to the convenience, there's a beach bar located near the shore, offering drinks and food. This bar is typically open from 9 am to 9 pm, providing refreshments and a place to relax. Prices are generally considered reasonable for a secluded beach location. The bay can get busy, especially between 10 am and 4 pm due to tour boats, so visiting during quieter hours can enhance the experience.
