Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views of Cartagena from Ermita de La Popa, especially during sunset. While the historical ruins and convent add to the charm, some note that the site could benefit from better preservation and that nearby modern structures detract from its beauty. The walk up is generally considered worthwhile for the vistas.

"Okay view on Trinidad but not spectacular"

Christoph Lautsch

"An old, ruined shell of a church on the hill overlooking Trinidad. It was a short walk from the town and the walk through back streets of Trinidad was probably the best part of visiting it as the ruins themselves are cordoned off. Nice views over Trinidad."

David Ellington

"This church in Trinidad perfectly represents the great contrasts you can encounter when visiting Cuba. Although just a short walk from the historic center, it can only be reached via a cobbled path that ends with a fence you can jump over with the help of a gentleman who, for a mere 1 CUC, will help you overcome the obstacle and visit what remains of a truly beautiful church. These remains are besieged by modernity because, instead of enhancing this beautiful monument, they built a nondescript and semi-abandoned warehouse next door... what a shame. The sunset view from here is truly beautiful!"
