What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Vyšehrad for its breathtaking panoramic views of Prague and its serene, expansive grounds, offering a peaceful escape from the city bustle. The historical significance of the site, including the cemetery and the underground Casemates, is also a major draw. Some find the Casemates tours a bit brief, and crowds can gather at sunset for the best views.
"Highly recommened!! Had a great time in the tunnels, the tour was interesting and fun and our guide (Thomas) was a perfect person for the job.
The Gorlice Hall is breathtaking with all the original statues from the bridge.
It's cold in the underground tunnels so remember to bring something warm, even in the summer!"

"This is not an easy to find, but worth the effort. I definitely recommend including it, especially if you're nearby touring St Peter & Paul's cathedral. Daily 1 hour tours. 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm, 5pm.
The office is located under "The Main Gate", built in the 1400s by the Austrians.
This was a military base for the Austrians for nearly 400 years. The tunnels go from one part of the complex to another.
The 6 original statues housed here were built in the early 1700s & are located in what was a 3 story food storage room for Prague and it's army. There's only 2 original statues on the Charles IV Bridge. The remaining 28 are replicas.
Due to the weight, the 300+ year old statues were cut into 2 or 3 pieces, depending upon the size and weight, and moved here. I have no idea why any government wouldn't just put them in the National Museum, but in 1971, remember who was running this country.
Obviously, a private collector wouldn't cut 300+ year old prestine precious statues to store. That would be the equivalent to cutting your couch in half because it didn't fit through the front door. No disrespect here. Just something to point out, as the people running the country in 1971 didn't care much for art & craftsmenship.
The movie "Mission Impossible 3" was filmed in these tunnels, so you can walk where Tom Cruise ran.
Amazing craftsmenship. Truly amazing. And Patrick, the guide, was especially informative & knowledgeable. We'll worth the 180CZK."

"The corridors and Gorlice Hall were nice to see but paying almost 10€ for a guided tour was not worth it. Unfortunately the guide had a very strong accent so I did not understand most of what she was saying.
Would not recommend!!
Explore the surrounding area of Vyšehrad for free instead."
