What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Convent of St. Agnes for its magnificent Gothic architecture and its significant collection of medieval art. The Baroque Library tour is a highly recommended highlight, offering a glimpse into opulent historical interiors. Some find the medieval art focus specific, and booking tours in advance is crucial.
"It was recommended to me by my art teacher, and i have loved it:) I didn’t go to the museum but the complex is long enough to be there around 1 hour☺️☺️. Anyways, I think the tombs exposed in the garden should be protected. They are stored in there without any security towards vandalism or weather. It’s no surprise that they’re poorly preserved.
However, the visit was worth it!"

"Definitely worth visiting. The exhibition was really worth it if you are interested in gothic religious art and history. We took our time with each piece of art and i must say it was quite an educational experience. I recommend buying a ticket for the exhibition (even tho it’s a bit pricey) but the coven it self is also worth visiting and free!"
Argyro Aroditi
"Lovely edifice to visit, outside of the noisier tourist areas. They have a great interactive portion were kids can press paper, write with real feather quills, etc - tbh it was fun for me as well!
Lovely gardens connected to the complex - take a moment to explore it all on a nice sunny day :)
Would recommend you go to Villa Bilek prior to the convent if you’d like some insider knowledge on the crucifix room sculpture pictured below.
I’d say their upstairs exhibit is worthwhile as well- HUGE amount you’ll miss otherwise- the roof section is larger than it appears, haha."

The Gothic architecture of the convent itself, especially the cloisters and chapels, is incredibly photogenic. The Baroque Library, if you get a tour, is also a stunning subject.

A versatile lens (like a 24-70mm equivalent) is useful for capturing both architectural details and artworks. A wide-angle lens can be great for the Gothic interiors. :iphone: is also perfectly fine for most shots.
