What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek for its stunning art collections, particularly the ancient sculptures and the serene Winter Garden. Many find it a peaceful and beautiful space, even if they aren't avid museum-goers. Some note minor inconveniences with locker refunds and a desire for more air conditioning in summer.
"Absolutely worth a visit if you’re into art, history, or just beautiful spaces!
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is packed with stunning art and sculptures — from ancient Egypt and Greece to classic and modern European works. It’s not just a museum; it’s like walking through history.
There’s so much to see that you could easily spend hours exploring. The architecture is gorgeous, and the winter garden in the middle is a hidden gem — peaceful, lush, and perfect for taking a break.
Even if you’re not a hardcore museum fan, this place is seriously impressive. It feels calm and spacious, and there’s something interesting around every corner. If you’re in Copenhagen, don’t skip it!"

"A beautiful art museum with a peaceful indoor garden and a strong focus on sculpture—but what really surprised me was the small yet fascinating Egyptian section. I never expected to see real mummies up close. It was incredible to learn that faces were painted on another piece of canvas, and the weaving was so detailed and delicate. Seeing them in person gave a whole new perspective—both eerie and awe-inspiring. Even though the museum is mostly about sculpture, this part truly stood out to me."

"So I went to the Glyptotek museum in Copenhagen, mainly because I really wanted to see the Ancient Egypt exhibition and honestly, it didn’t disappoint at all.
They’ve got quite a lot of ancient artifacts from Egypt, and yes, there’s even a real mummy! That part alone made it worth the visit for me.
The rest of the museum, like around 70% of it, is mostly filled with Greek and Roman sculptures and artwork. To be honest, I’m not super into those statues, but it was still a cool experience and felt like something I should see at least once.
Quick tip for anyone planning to visit: buy your ticket online through their website by scanning the QR code in front of the entrance. It’s cheaper than buying at the counter.
After you get the ticket in tour email, just show the QR code to the staff at the entrance. Before going in, they’ll ask you to store your bags in the lockers. You’ll need a token for that, which you can get by swiping your credit card at the machine.
Here’s the weird part though. After your visit, you can return the token to get a refund, but they give it back as a 20 DKK coin (cash).
It’s kinda unfair for tourists, because you pay with a credit card but get the refund in cash. They should really just put it back on your card instead."
