"Visited Dominica Botanical Gardens in 10/24/25. The ground was a little muddy & there was a big Dominican cultural festival going on so it was good to see some locals and be able to sample lots of the local cuisine and juices . This is a free attraction to don’t especially but it is a nice place to graze and be surrounded by pretty flowers ."

"Large variety of trees and flowering shrubs from Caribbean and elsewhere. Some are labelled. While not highly manicured or a fancy design with formal gardens or statues and fountains, this is a free admission nice place to relax and explore. While uncrowded and spacious, we saw a good number of people enjoying the park, Moms with kids sitting on benches (wish I could sit here with my dear Mom), people recreating, etc. We enjoyed this park and checking out the fine trees young and old. It’s easy to walk here from your lodging in downtown Roseau. Dominica thanks for providing this nice garden."

A Living Legacy: History of the Gardens
Over the years, the gardens have witnessed significant events, including a devastating hurricane in 1979 that caused a large tree to fall, fortunately without harming any school children who were present at the time. Despite the challenges, the gardens have persevered, evolving into the cherished green space it is today, offering a glimpse into Dominica's botanical heritage and colonial past.
While the gardens may not be as formally manicured as some European botanical gardens, their charm lies in their natural, tropical setting. They serve as a vital green lung for Roseau and a place where both locals and visitors can connect with nature and learn about the island's rich plant life.
The Ascent to Morne Bruce: Views and Challenges
The effort is handsomely rewarded with a beautiful, panoramic view of the entire city of Roseau, the bustling bayfront, and the expansive ocean beyond. This elevated perspective offers a unique appreciation for the island's capital and its coastal setting.
It's important to be prepared for the climb. Wearing comfortable shoes is crucial, and carrying water is highly recommended due to the tropical climate. The steepness means it's a good workout, but the breathtaking scenery at the top makes it a worthwhile endeavor for many visitors.
