Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking beauty of Isla Saona, accessible via Bayahibe Port, highlighting the stunning turquoise waters and pristine beaches. The journey, including the unique Natural Pool stop, is a major draw. However, some find the port area chaotic with aggressive vendors and language barriers, and tour experiences can vary in organization.

"We visited Isla Saona, and it’s truly a must-see when traveling to the Dominican Republic. The journey starts at the Bayahibe Port, where boats depart for Isla Saona. While the port itself is nothing special, the trip from there to the island is absolutely breathtaking.

The entire area between Bayahibe and Isla Saona lies within a National Park and protected marine area, offering stunning views of turquoise waters and untouched nature.

Just before reaching the island, there’s a spot known as the Natural Pool — a shallow, crystal-clear lagoon with fine white sand unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s simply magical (just take a look at the photos!).

Finally, you arrive at Isla Saona, which features the same powdery sand and calm, inviting waters. Most tours include food and drinks, making it a relaxing and memorable day trip.

If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, Isla Saona is an experience you absolutely shouldn’t miss."

"Nice boat ride, awesome waters, music is great & so is the atmosphere."

Ruben Arellano

"A nice and busy port with many gift shops, excursion agencies and hawkers selling stuff. This is the main starting point for many tours, specifically the boat/catamaran ride to the Isla Saona, so do come early if you haven't got a booking in advance.

Also the traffic around this port is crazy, there are no clear sign to car park, and cars and buses are driving all over the entrance, so it's really messy.

Our tour guide kept us waiting and trying one boat after another for almost 2 hours before we finally got into one for Isla Saona, so be careful. Noone speaks English at this place or overall at DR!"
