Many appreciate the panoramic views from the keep and the well-maintained grounds. While entry fees are usually nominal, occasional free access periods are a bonus.
"I didn't know much about the history of the Dominican Republic besides when it was discovered, and a visit to this open air museum helped me learn a bunch more in interesting ways, from holograms to projection rooms to being able to walk the tower and walls, see the canyons, and read the various signs to learn about the history of what the colonizers did to the island the locals as various nations were in control. Very well presented with awareness of the reality of history. Bring cash for the ticket, it was 100."

"Everywhere you turn in Santo Domingo there seems to be an immaculately maintained UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fort Ozama is no different. It is an engaging historical site where you can wander the grounds and climb up to the top for a panoramic vista of the port and skyline."
Nick Shamhart
"I was told there's usually an entrance fee but for some reason it was free the day we went.
It's a great spot to visit in the Colonial Zone and they've done a good job at making interesting attractions and mini exhibits in the various spaces inside the keep. There are videos and displays and it's quite an interesting place to tour.
There were ships in the harbor right behind the keep which made you get a feel of how it would feel back in the colonial era when ships came to port and unloaded their cargo."
