"My visit at Reserva Las Tanragas was the best day of my 4 days stay in Mindo. There were amazing birds and beautiful trail leading to the reserve from the gate, and within the reserve. Karen and James were so generous to offer coffee when I arrived, and took us for a walk to the river. I saw 2 different kind of toucans at a lodge next to the entrance gate. If I come back to Mindo, I would stay there on night so I can take the 5:20am tour to see the cock of the rock.
Thank you Karen and James for you kindness."

"There’s something magical about Reserva Las Tangaras — toucans swing through the treetops, colibris flit between flowers, and the cock of the rock surprises you with its bright colors. Every corner of the forest feels alive, peaceful, and unforgettable.
What made my stay truly special, though, were the current volunteers, James and Karen. They are incredibly warm, kind, and inspiring, and their love for nature shines in everything they do. Their enthusiasm is contagious — whether sharing stories about the reserve’s conservation efforts or pointing out hidden bird species. And I can’t forget to mention Karen’s amazing cooking — every meal was delicious and made with so much care adding an extra touch of comfort to the experience.
Highly recommend visiting if you get the chance, you’ll be lucky! ❤️"
