Reviews Summary

Wadi Degla Protectorate is lauded as a fantastic natural escape for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and camping, offering a genuine desert experience with opportunities for wildlife spotting and stargazing. However, many visitors are dismayed by the significant litter problem, which detracts from its natural beauty and impacts wildlife. Reddit+1

"It is an amazing place for hiking, off road running, biking and other open air activities! I’ve been there many times in events, with friends, in groups, and with my family. For running, exploring nature, hiking, and other events."

Ana Paula Ramos

"Wonderful to see the original features of the land and get out for a walk. Our highlights were finding fossils and a fox!

However, the amount of garbage is disgusting. People need to be taught to respect nature! Maybe establish some signage and entry rules regarding littering before the place is cleaned up, to try to prevent this from happening again.

Would love to see a proper recreation land use management plan here and watch it flourish. It could be full of natural species again, and still support a rich tourist experience."

"The real meaning of desert 🏜️
You should stock yourself with needed water & food & power bank & gas and everything..
There’s only 3 camps there that u might use but each will cost around 350 LE for nothing just to sit on a blank that u can bring from home..
NO SIGNAL AT ALL.
no light at all after sunset so make sure to leave this place at that time of dogs and all desert animals might come across u.

Overall experience was fair yet will never try it once again tbh.."
