What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Kaupinoja Sauna's authentic, wood-fired heat and the exhilarating lake dips. The communal, mixed-gender atmosphere and beautiful forest setting contribute to its magical, world-unto-itself feel. While the intense heat is a highlight, it can be challenging for first-timers. Some wish for more food options beyond grilling your own.
"39th Finnish sauna review: Another magical sauna. Walking through the forest to eventually end up on the lake and traditional sauna (mixed/swimmers) was enchanting. A world unto itself. The sauna was 91.2c, with 4 levels of benches. No one was on the top bench and most people were lasting 8-10 mins. There was always a grey beard with the löyly onto the kiuas. Was getting dumped on it relentlessly. Wood fired, it had that wonderful softness to it, but was also again super hot due to the sheer volume. Great facilities here. Dipping into the lake was wonderful. The walk between here and Rauhaniemi folk spa was one of the most magical I’ve had in a long while."

"Authentic Finnish sauna experience. Absolutely magnificent. The sauna is extremely hot so I would suggest first timers to sit nearer the door. Flip flops can be rented free of charge so no need to bring your own. The dip in the lake afterwards is so refreshing! Definitely would visit again maybe next time in the winter 🥶"

"By far the most authentic sauna experience. Mixed gender sauna run by friendly locals near the lake. Beware the sauna is hot, the locals like it really hot. The reward after is the refreshing dip into the lake and grilled sausages (bring your own) for the truly Finnish experience.
Sandals & sitting board are free of use on site. Highly recommend!"
